Edwin McCain Tells His Story
November 6, 2025
Get to know acoustic powerhouse Edwin McCain in an all-new interview with The 90s Cruise.

The musician takes us behind the mic to explore his music, what he has in store for the cruise, and more.
You recently released your first new record in 15 years, congratulations! Reviews have been resoundingly positive and we love it too. It’s been 33 years since your debut release Solitude in 1992–how has your approach to songwriting and recording evolved over that span?
My approach to songwriting has remained the same. I’ve lived my life long enough and try to mine the poetry out of the journey. Recording has become easier by a factor of 30. We used to record until we ran out of money and now we edit and re-record until we run out of time!
On Lucky, you continued your legacy of collaborating with other artists on recordings, and you also collaborated in live performances. How does working with other big names like Lee Brice or Bret Michaels or Darius Rucker differ from doing your own thing?
I approach working with other artists with friendship and joy. I think if you provide space and make it fun and keep an open mind then great things can happen.
We loved seeing you on the TV screen when you hosted Flippin’ Ships (available on YouTube, Amazon, AppleTV and others)! You looked like you were having a blast, are you still doing boat restorations?
I am still doing restorations of all kinds. I have a cabin cruiser boat that we are working on and I’m also doing an old military Jeep. I love fixing up old things. I should probably start working on me.
In addition to Flippin’ Ships, you were also on The Masked Singer. Do you enjoy doing TV and do you have any plans to return to the screen?
The Masked Singer was such a great experience. I would love to do more TV or movies, anything to do with storytelling!
We are all super excited to have you join The 90s Cruise and perform both full band and acoustic shows. What are you looking forward to about sailing with us on The 90s Cruise?
I am really looking forward to spending time with all the other bands. I love watching other bands play and see their process. Thanks for having me!
